Park Road Academy Competes in the Trafford Bowling Panathlon - 08.11.24

Six of our pupils were chosen to represent Park Road Academy at the recent Bowling Panathlon event, held at Atlantic Bowl. This exciting competition brought together schools from across Trafford, with each team aiming for a top-three finish to secure a place in the upcoming Greater Manchester Games.

Our team gave it their all, demonstrating excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the day. The children bowled brilliantly and supported one another, showing great determination and effort against some tough competition.

Although we didn’t quite manage to finish in the top three and progress further in the competition, the experience was a memorable one. The children had a fantastic time, enjoying the atmosphere and the chance to try their best in each game.

A huge well done to our Park Road Academy representatives! We are incredibly proud of your efforts and the positive way you represented our school.

Gymfinity Gymnastics Competition (Year 3 & 4) - 12.11.24

On the 12th of November 2024, Year 4 children from Park Road Academy participated in the Gymfinity Altrincham Gymnastics Festival, impressing everyone with their fantastic skills and enthusiasm throughout the event. The day began with a group warm-up session, followed by activities on the beam, vault, and bars. With guidance from expert instructors, the children also learnt a new floor routine, which they performed confidently in front of the judges.

We are thrilled to announce that the Park Road team achieved an outstanding 2nd place overall in the competition, showcasing excellent teamwork and consistency across all events. Additionally, one of our gymnasts delivered an impressive performance on the vault, earning 2nd place overall in the vault event. This is a fantastic accomplishment that reflects their hard work and dedication.

A big congratulations to all of our participants for their brilliant efforts, sportsmanship, and a wonderful day of gymnastics!

Gymfinity Gymnastics Competition (Year 5 & 6) - 12.11.24

On the 12th of November 2024, our Year 5 and Year 6 gymnasts from Park Road Academy took part in the Gymfinity Altrincham Gymnastics Festival, delivering fantastic performances throughout the event. The day started with a group warm-up, followed by a range of activities on the beam, vault, and bars. The children were guided by skilled instructors and learned a new floor routine, which they performed confidently in front of a panel of judges.

We are proud to share that our team finished 6th overall out of 14 schools, demonstrating excellent effort and perseverance across all disciplines. A special mention goes to one of our talented gymnasts, who secured 3rd place in the floor routine event, an incredible achievement given the strong competition from over 50 participants.

Well done to all our gymnasts for their dedication, impressive skills, and exemplary sportsmanship throughout the day!

Boys’ Football Tournament Report – School of Play (29.11.24)

Park Road Academy’s boys' football team showcased grit and determination at the School of Play Football Tournament on Friday, 29th November. The team faced some tough opposition throughout the day but demonstrated incredible perseverance and adaptability as the tournament progressed.

The boys began their campaign against Broadheath, where despite creating several close opportunities, they were unfortunate to suffer a 2-0 loss. A tight 0-0 draw with St Ambrose followed, with the team showing solid defensive resilience. However, the next two fixtures proved challenging, as they fell to a heavy 5-0 defeat to Gorse Hill and a 4-0 loss to St Dunstan's.

Determined to bounce back, a tactical reshuffle before their match against Chorlton Park made all the difference. The boys played with renewed energy and purpose, resulting in an exciting 3-2 victory, showcasing excellent teamwork and attacking play.

In the final playoff game against St Dunstan's, the team put in one of their strongest performances of the day. A thrilling match ended 1-1, with Park Road scoring a spectacular "goal of the season" contender. The game went to a penalty shootout, where Park Road’s goalkeeper emerged as the hero of the day, saving an incredible three penalties to secure a 5-4 victory in the shootout.

A fantastic finish to a challenging tournament – well done to the boys for their resilience, teamwork, and fighting spirit throughout the day!

 

Girls’ Football Tournament Report – School of Play (29.11.24)

Park Road Academy’s girls' football team put on an outstanding display of skill, determination, and teamwork at the School of Play Football Tournament on Friday, 29th November. The team faced a range of competitive fixtures, finishing the day with some record-breaking performances.

The tournament began with a narrow 1-0 loss to Openshaw, leaving the girls eager for redemption. They bounced back brilliantly in their next match with a 1-0 victory over St Monica's, demonstrating excellent defensive organisation and clinical attacking play. The momentum continued as they delivered an emphatic 5-0 win against Manchester Muslim Prep School, followed by a stunning 7-0 victory over Divine Mercy.

The highlight of the day came in the next game, where Park Road set a new school record with an incredible 10-0 triumph against Ravensbury, showcasing their relentless attacking flair and teamwork.

In the group final, Park Road once again faced Openshaw in a tightly contested rematch. Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances, the girls were unable to find the back of the net and narrowly lost 1-0, thanks to a standout performance from the Openshaw goalkeeper.

A brilliant effort from the girls, with record-breaking victories and impressive football throughout the tournament. Well done to the entire team for their fantastic performances and sportsmanship! Well done to the team for finishing Runners Up!

Park Road Academy Shines at Trafford’s Got Talent Dance Festival

On Thursday 5th December, the talented dancers of Park Road Academy took to the stage at the Trafford’s Got Talent Dance Festival, showcasing their incredible performance in front of an audience that included participants from 18 other schools across Trafford, both primary and secondary.

The festival celebrated creativity, expression, and teamwork, with each school bringing its own unique style to the event. Park Road Academy’s performance was a true highlight, combining precision, energy, and passion. The children worked tirelessly in the weeks leading up to the event to perfect their routine, and their hard work paid off as they wowed the audience with their confidence and skill.

The event was not a competition but rather a celebration of dance, allowing every participant to shine and share their talent. Park Road’s children represented the school with pride, demonstrating not only their dance abilities but also their fantastic teamwork and enthusiasm.

Huge congratulations to our performers for their dedication and for showcasing what Park Road is all about – creativity, effort, and a love for the arts! Well done!
