
Boys' Football League Matches - Season Opener (17th September 2024)
The Park Road Academy boys kicked off their 2024/2025 league season with a series of tough games, showing great potential and determination throughout the evening.
The first match saw Park Road face Oldfield Brow, resulting in a narrow 1-0 loss. Despite a strong first-half performance, the team struggled to maintain momentum in the second half, leading to their first defeat.
In the second game, the boys took on Elmridge and narrowly lost 2-1. Park Road were unlucky not to come away with at least a point, especially after an excellent goal crafted from a clever freekick routine and a fantastic half-volley finish.
The third game saw an improvement in performance, as the team battled to a well-deserved 1-1 draw against Willows. A sturdy defence and a clever pressing move secured the equaliser and kept the team competitive.
In the final game of the evening, Park Road claimed their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Forest Prep. Two brilliant goals, one from a free-kick and another following an excellent attacking press, sealed a solid finish to the day’s fixtures.
The boys displayed excellent teamwork and fighting spirit throughout and will no doubt look to build on this positive start as the season progresses. Great effort all round! ⚽

Girls' Football League Matches - Season Opener
The Park Road Academy girls began their league campaign with a series of competitive games, showing resilience and determination in their performances.
In the opening match against Oldfield Brow, the girls started strong but were narrowly defeated 1-0. Despite their best efforts in the early stages of the game, they were unable to find the back of the net.
The second game saw Park Road dominate their match against Elmridge, controlling possession and creating several chances. However, the team struggled to break the deadlock, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
The third game proved to be the toughest challenge of the day, as Park Road came up against an impressive Willows side. Despite their best efforts, the team suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat to a very strong and convincing opposition.
The girls, however, did not let the loss affect their spirits. In their final game against Forest Prep, they bounced back with determination, playing an excellent match and dominating possession throughout. A very late winner secured a 1-0 victory, capping off the day with a hard-earned win.
The girls showed tremendous resilience, bouncing back after tough results and finishing on a high. There’s plenty to build on as the season progresses! Well done, team! ⚽

Boys' Football League Matches - 01.10.24
The boys returned to action with four challenging games, facing tough opposition but continuing to display moments of real quality across the evening.
Park Road 0-1 Elmridge
The first game saw Park Road narrowly defeated 1-0 in a hard-fought contest against Elmridge. Despite some physical play from the opposition, the boys did their best to stay focused and battle through the challenges. Although it was a tough loss, Park Road remained composed and showed resilience in the face of adversity. The team kept fighting throughout but couldn't quite find the breakthrough they deserved.
Park Road 1-0 Cloverlea
In the second game, Park Road claimed a deserved 1-0 victory over Cloverlea. The opposing goalkeeper put on a spectacular performance, making several incredible saves and keeping his team in the game. However, Park Road's persistence paid off when a surprising own goal from the Cloverlea goalkeeper handed them the lead. Though the goal may have been unconventional, it reflected Park Road's attacking pressure and determination to get the result they wanted.
Park Road 1-1 Well Green
The third game saw Park Road take an early lead through an excellent interception and composed finish. Despite their initial advantage, the game became a tough battle, with the boys struggling to maintain their momentum. A late goal from Well Green meant the game finished 1-1, but the boys did well to hold on for a point, thanks to some important saves.
Park Road 1-0 Forest Prep
In their final game, Park Road bounced back with renewed energy and focus. A tactical switch late in the game helped push for the win, and after a well-placed shot, the team capitalised on a rebound to take the lead with a decisive goal. Forest Prep applied pressure towards the end, but Park Road defended with determination and grit, holding on to secure a well-deserved 1-0 win.
Overall, it was a day of mixed results for the boys, but they demonstrated resilience and teamwork throughout the games. With a strong finish in their final match, the team can take plenty of positives as they continue to grow and develop through the season.

Altrincham FC Tournament Report (04.10.24)
The boys participated in the Altrincham FC Tournament, showing determination and effort throughout a series of tough matches, ultimately finishing 5th out of 7 teams.
The tournament began with a 0-0 draw against Navigation, a side that would later reach the final. Despite facing strong opposition, the boys held their ground, showing defensive resilience and some good spells of possession. In their second game, Park Road Academy took on Altrincham C of E, another well-contested match that ended in a 0-0 draw. Both teams battled hard, and the boys did well to keep a clean sheet.
Next, Park Road faced an impressive Broadheath team. Despite their best efforts, the boys were handed a 2-0 defeat by a team that moved the ball swiftly and capitalised on their opportunities. However, the team quickly regrouped for their next game, putting in a dominant performance against Cloverlea. They secured a 3-0 victory, with a flurry of chances that could have easily extended the scoreline further.
In the next match, Park Road came up against the talented Willows team. Despite their efforts, the boys suffered a 2-0 loss to a side that played excellent football. The final game of the day saw Park Road play against Stamford Park, where they showed resilience and discipline to earn another 0-0 draw, rounding off a solid performance in the tournament.
Finishing 5th was a respectable achievement, with strong defensive play and moments of attacking brilliance. Well done to the boys for their efforts in a challenging competition!

Girls' Football League Games (08.10.24)
The girls' team took to the pitch on Tuesday, 8th October, for another set of league fixtures, showing a combination of attacking flair and defensive resilience throughout the afternoon.
In the opening game, the girls put on a dominant display against Well Green, winning 1-0 in a match that could have easily ended with more goals. The team controlled the game, with the decisive moment coming from a clever corner routine that led to the winning goal. Their attacking play kept the pressure on Well Green throughout, but they were unable to extend their lead despite creating several chances.
The second game was a tougher contest against a much-improved Forest Prep side. Both teams had opportunities to score, but it ended in a hard-fought 0-0 draw. The game was a display of solid defending and goalkeeping from both sides, with Park Road holding their ground well.
Up next was a narrow 1-0 defeat against Elmridge. Despite having the majority of the attacking play, the girls were unable to find the back of the net and were caught out by a well-taken goal from the opposition. It was a frustrating result, as the team had created several opportunities to score but just couldn’t convert.
In the final game, the team bounced back with another strong performance, claiming a 1-0 win against Bollin. The girls pressed forward consistently, and while they could have added more goals, the single goal was enough to secure the victory. Once again, it was a team effort with great attacking play and a solid defensive display to ensure the win.
Overall, the team should be proud of their performance, finishing the day with two wins, one draw, and one narrow loss. Well done, girls!

Altrincham FC Girls' Tournament Match Report (11.10.24)
The girls' team put in a fantastic performance at the Altrincham FC Tournament, finishing 5th overall out of 8 teams. Despite the tough competition, the team demonstrated excellent resilience and defensive solidity, managing to go unbeaten and without conceding a goal until their very last game.
The tournament started with a well-deserved 1-0 win against Stamford Park, with the girls showing their attacking prowess early on and securing a crucial victory. From there, the team played a series of tightly contested matches. They held strong for 0-0 draws against Broadheath, Navigation, Altrincham C of E, Cloverlea, and Heyes Lane. In each of these games, the girls were unlucky not to find the back of the net, but their excellent defensive work and teamwork ensured that their opponents also struggled to break through.
Unfortunately, in the final game of the league stage, the girls came up against a very talented Willows side. After a long day of football and resilient performances, the team eventually conceded three goals, marking their first defeat of the competition.
Despite not making it to the semi-finals, the girls can be incredibly proud of their performance. With only one defeat and a string of strong results, they showed determination, discipline, and no small amount of skill throughout the tournament. Well done, team

Year 5 Pupils Join Trafford Leadership Sports Academy Programme - 17.10.24
We are delighted to announce that four of our Year 5 pupils have been selected to take part in the Trafford Leadership Sports Academy Programme. The programme kicked off with an exciting initial training session held at the iconic Old Trafford Cricket Ground, where the children learnt the basics of sports leadership and began their journey toward becoming future leaders in sport.
During the morning training, the children were introduced to a variety of key skills essential for sports leadership, including effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and how to motivate and engage others. These skills are crucial for organising and leading activities in a way that encourages participation and enjoyment for all.
The pupils worked hard throughout the morning, practising and honing these new abilities. They left the session feeling motivated and eager to apply their newfound knowledge. Throughout the school year, they will continue to work towards completing the programme, applying their skills to various leadership challenges.
As part of their role, they will help support Park Road Academy’s ongoing commitment to promoting active and healthy lifestyles. The children will be instrumental in helping ensure that all pupils at our school stay active through our "Active Healthy Minutes" initiative, encouraging everyone to participate in physical activities daily.
We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and dedication so far and look forward to seeing them grow and develop as leaders throughout the year.
