Quidditch Day 2023

Magic and excitement filled the air at Park Road Academy as the children immersed themselves in the enchanting world of Quidditch, inspired by the legendary sport from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The school event saw the transformation of the four Park Road houses – Tatton, Dunham, Lyme, and Heaton – into the mystical houses of Hogwarts, setting the stage for a magical day of fun and friendly competition.

In true Quidditch fashion, the children were divided into their respective houses, and each team embraced their house colours and spirit with great enthusiasm. The atmosphere was electrifying as the young witches and wizards took to the pitch displaying their remarkable skills.

The Quidditch sessions proved to be a delightful experience for all the children, who eagerly embraced the magical sport. The thrill of chasing the Golden Snitch, passing the Quaffle, and defending their team's hoops brought laughter and excitement to every moment.

The event not only provided an opportunity for the children to enjoy a unique and whimsical sport but also encouraged them to engage in physical activity while experiencing the joy of friendly competition.

The Quidditch event at Park Road Academy exemplified the school's commitment to fostering a love for sports and physical activity while nurturing the children's imaginations.

Congratulations to all the young witches and wizards for their fantastic sportsmanship and their willingness to embrace the enchanting world of Quidditch. The magical memories created on this special day will undoubtedly be cherished by all, fostering a continued love for the sport and a sense of unity among the houses at Park Road Academy.

Sports Day 2023

The dry weather finally smiled upon Park Road Academy as the much-anticipated Year 1, 2 & 3 Sports Day took place on Wednesday, 12th July. After a weather delay, the Year 4, 5 & 6 Sports Day was held on Monday, 17th July, creating an exciting sports-filled week for the entire school community. The atmosphere was electric as the young athletes from each year group enthusiastically participated in a variety of races, showcasing their sporting prowess and team spirit.

The sports day featured an array of exciting races, including the classic bean bag race, the fun-filled sack race, the nail-biting egg and spoon race, the adrenaline-pumping sprint race, and the lively skipping race. The children demonstrated immense enthusiasm and sportsmanship, cheering each other on and celebrating every effort, making the event a joyous and memorable experience for all.

In addition to the children's races, the event featured an exciting parent's egg and spoon race, drawing an unprecedented number of enthusiastic parents to the track.

The sports day was a grand success, with children from all year groups enjoying the thrill of competition and the opportunity to showcase their skills. Their determination and resilience were truly commendable, and their infectious energy spread throughout the school grounds, leaving smiles on the faces of everyone present.

The sports day not only provided a chance for the children to engage in friendly competition but also emphasised the importance of physical activity, teamwork and having fun together.

Congratulations to all the young athletes for their fantastic performances, and a round of applause to the parents for their spirited participation.

Heyes Lane Football Tournament – 04.07.23

The Park Road Academy team showcased their determination and sportsmanship as they participated in an exciting football tournament for Year 3 and 4 children. Although the results did not go in their favour, the team's effort and positive attitude throughout the tournament were commendable.

In their first match, the team faced a tough challenge against Oldfield Brow, ultimately losing by a narrow margin of 1-0. Despite the defeat, the players displayed great resilience and fought until the final whistle, giving their all on the field.

In the subsequent game against Altrincham C of E, Park Road Academy once again demonstrated their commitment and skill. Although they suffered another 1-0 loss, their performance showcased their ability to compete at a high level and their determination to never give up.

The team faced a formidable opponent in Broadheath in their next match, resulting in a 4-0 defeat. However, the players remained resilient and continued to put forth their best effort, showing great teamwork and displaying their passion for the game.

In their final game of the tournament against Stamford Park, Park Road Academy showcased their fighting spirit. Despite a 3-1 loss, the team found the back of the net, displaying their ability to create scoring opportunities and their refusal to be discouraged.

Heyes Lane Football Tournament – 27.06.23

The Year 3/4 football team from Park Road Academy showcased their exceptional skills and determination at the highly competitive Heyes Lane Football Tournament. The team's outstanding performances throughout the tournament led them to a remarkable 2nd place finish in their group, securing a spot in the semi-finals.

The team began their campaign on a high note, defeating Navigation with an impressive 3-0 victory in their first game. They showcased excellent teamwork and skill, dominating the match from start to finish. In their second game, they continued their winning streak with a confident 2-0 triumph over Stamford Park, once again displaying their technical ability and cohesive play.

Despite their strong form, the team faced a narrow 1-0 defeat against Bowden Church in their third group game, despite dominating large parts of the match. It was a tightly contested game where Park Road Academy exhibited their superiority on the field but were unable to convert their chances into goals

Determined to bounce back, the team showed resilience and determination in their final group game against Broadheath, securing a well-deserved 2-0 victory. Their impressive performance highlighted their ability to perform under pressure and their unwavering spirit.

Advancing to the semi-finals, Park Road Academy faced Altrincham C of E in a hard-fought battle. The match ended in a goalless draw, a testament to the teams' defensive prowess and disciplined play. However, luck was not on their side as they lost in the penalty shootout, with Altrincham C of E emerging as victors with a score of 2-1.

Despite the disappointment of falling short in the semi-finals, the Year 3/4 football team from Park Road Academy should be immensely proud of their achievements in the Heyes Lane Football Tournament. Their exceptional performances, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition demonstrated their commitment to the sport and the growth of their skills.

Dynamo’s Cricket Tournament – 23.06.23

The Dynamo's Cricket tournament, held on Thursday, 22nd June, witnessed an outstanding display of skill and determination by the Park Road Academy team. Despite facing formidable opponents, the team showcased their cricketing prowess and secured victories in two out of four games. Finishing in an impressive 3rd place out of eight participating teams, the team's performance was truly commendable.

The tournament began with a challenging match against Bowden Church A, which resulted in a loss of 119 runs to 23 runs. However, the team quickly regrouped and continued their efforts against Bowden Church B in a closely contested match. Though they faced a defeat of 100 runs to 63 runs, the team showed great resilience and determination.

As the tournament progressed, the team hit their stride and delivered a commanding performance against St Vincent's, triumphing with an impressive score of 131 runs to 52 runs. This victory served as a turning point, igniting the team's confidence and setting the stage for their final match.

In the last game, a short but intense encounter, Park Road Academy emerged victorious against Cloverlea with a convincing score of 44 runs to 18 runs. The team's remarkable teamwork and individual contributions secured the well-deserved win, capping off their tournament campaign on a high note.

The Dynamo's Cricket tournament showcased the team's remarkable growth and progress throughout the day. Their ability to bounce back from early challenges and deliver stellar performances in subsequent matches was truly inspiring. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters of the Park Road Academy team for their exceptional achievements in the tournament.
