Geography - What do I know about the United Kingdom?
The children used atlases to find the countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom. They explored the maps to locate England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and learnt which cities are the capitals of each. They also looked at pictures of the flags for each country, discussing the different colours and symbols. Along with this, the children compared towns and the countryside, noticing the differences in the landscapes and how people live in each area. They also learnt about famous landmarks, like Big Ben and Edinburgh Castle, and discussed their importance. This helped them understand more about the United Kingdom and its countries.
