Dynamos Cricket Tournament at Timperley Cricket Club - 08.07.24

The Park Road Academy cricket team participated in the Dynamos Cricket tournament held at Timperley Cricket Club, competing against other local schools with great determination and spirit.

The day started on a high note, with Park Road showcasing exceptional cricket skills and securing a decisive win against Cloverlea, finishing the game 112-57. The team's batting and bowling were on point, setting a strong tone for the tournament.

The second game proved more challenging as Park Road faced last year's finalists. Despite their best efforts, the team was defeated with a score of 27-156. However, the players displayed resilience and continued to give their best throughout the match.

In the final game of the day, Park Road went up against Hale Prep. Despite showing great bowling skills, the team was defeated with a score of 38-101. The players remained spirited and committed, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and teamwork.

Overall, it was a day of highs and lows, but the team’s dedication and effort were evident throughout the tournament. Well done to all the players for representing Park Road Academy with pride and determination.

 

Trafford School Sports Leadership Academy Graduation - 05.07.24

Today marked a proud moment for Park Road Academy as some of our Year 5 pupils celebrated their graduation from the Trafford School Sports Leadership Academy programme. The graduation ceremony took place at the iconic Old Trafford Cricket Stadium, where the children were recognised for their hard work and dedication.

Throughout the programme, the children were tasked with completing a series of sports leadership activities designed to develop their skills and confidence. As part of their qualification, they had to lead sports sessions at a local school for Year 2 children, ensuring these sessions were engaging and fun.

The children demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, organising and conducting various activities that kept the younger children enthusiastic and active. Their ability to inspire and manage the sessions effectively was a testament to the training they received during the programme.

Congratulations to all our newly qualified sports leaders! Your commitment and enthusiasm have not only earned you this achievement but also set a wonderful example for your peers.

Park Road Academy Shines at The School of Play Football Tournament - 28.06.24

On Friday, 28th June, Park Road Academy's boys and girls teams participated in the School of Play Football Tournament at FIVES Trafford, showcasing incredible skill and determination.The boys' team faced stiff competition but played exceptionally well throughout the tournament, ultimately finishing in third place.

Victoria Park (0-6 Loss)
The boys faced a tough challenge against Victoria Park in their opening match. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to break through the opposition’s strong defense and suffered a heavy defeat.

Fiddlers Lane (8-2 Win)
Bouncing back from their initial setback, the boys delivered a commanding performance against Fiddlers Lane. Their attacking prowess was on full display, leading to an impressive 8-2 victory.

Elmridge Primary (9-0 Win)
Continuing their momentum, the team dominated Elmridge Primary, securing a remarkable 9-0 win. The boys showcased excellent teamwork and clinical finishing.

Broadheath Primary (3-3 Draw)
In a tightly contested match against Broadheath Primary, Park Road took the lead but were pegged back by a last-minute equalizer, resulting in a 3-3 draw. Both teams played with high intensity, making for an exciting game.

Gorse Hill (3-5 Loss)
In their final match against the eventual champions, Gorse Hill, the boys fought valiantly but ultimately fell short, losing 5-3. Despite the loss, the team displayed great spirit and determination.

 

The girls' team also performed outstandingly, securing a runners-up finish in the competition with some impressive displays.

Elmridge Primary (4-2 Win)
The girls started strong with a solid 4-2 victory over Elmridge Primary. Their attacking strategy paid off, and they managed to maintain their lead throughout the match.

St Monica's Rockets (0-4 Loss)
Facing the formidable St Monica's Rockets, the girls encountered a tough opponent and were defeated 4-0. Despite the loss, they remained focused and resilient.

St Monica's Astros (6-1 Win)
Bouncing back, the team delivered a convincing 6-1 win over St Monica's Astros. Their coordinated efforts and sharp finishing were key to this dominant performance.

Fiddlers Lane (8-0 Win)
Against Fiddlers Lane, the girls were unstoppable, securing an 8-0 victory. Their cohesive play and relentless pressure overwhelmed their opponents.

Gorse Hill (7-0 Win)
In their final match, the girls clinched a 7-0 win over Gorse Hill. The team's striker was particularly outstanding, scoring an impressive 14 goals throughout the tournament.

Both teams showcased excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players for their hard work and impressive achievements! 🌟

Park Road Academy Competes in Girls Year 3/4 Football Tournament - 25.06.24

Park Road Academy's Year 3/4 girls football team participated in a thrilling tournament held at Heyes Lane School. The team showcased their skills and determination, delivering superb performances throughout the competition.

In the opening match against Heyes Lane, the team played exceptionally well, with one of their great efforts finding the back of the net. The game ended in a 1-1 draw, setting a positive tone for the rest of the tournament.

The next match saw Park Road Academy secure a 1-0 victory over St Vincent's, thanks to a fantastic goal from distance, earning the team a valuable 3 points.

In the final group game against Altrincham CofE, the team narrowly lost 1-0 despite creating several close opportunities and some stellar work from their goalkeeper.

Advancing to the semi-final, Park Road faced Oldfield Brow. Despite a valiant effort, the team was defeated 2-0. After conceding two goals, the team started to find their rhythm, but unfortunately, it was slightly too late to turn the game around.

Overall, the girls displayed great teamwork, resilience, and skill throughout the tournament. Well done to all the players for their hard work and excellent performances!

 

Year 4 Tennis Team Competes at Claremont Tennis Club Festival - 11.06.24

Our Year 4 tennis team participated in an exciting tennis competition at Claremont Tennis Club. Competing against other local schools in the area, the team demonstrated great effort and sportsmanship throughout the event.

Despite facing some very high-level competition, the team managed to secure two impressive wins. Although they lost the remaining four games, the children showed remarkable improvement with each match and played some excellent tennis.

The festival provided an invaluable experience for our young athletes, allowing them to develop their skills and teamwork. A huge well done to the entire team for their dedication and hard work! πŸŽΎπŸ‘

Park Road Academy Triumphs at Broadheath Football Tournament - 21.05.24

Park Road Academy's Year 5/6 boys football team showcased their talent and determination at the football tournament held at Broadheath Primary School. Competing in a small group against Broadheath Primary and Altrincham CofE, the boys delivered impressive performances throughout the event.

The tournament began with a solid 1-0 victory over Broadheath Primary, thanks to a well-executed goal from the left-hand side. In their second match, Park Road Academy faced Altrincham CofE in a thrilling encounter that ended in a 1-1 draw. Both teams had opportunities to secure the win, but outstanding goalkeeping from both sides kept the scoreline level.

In their third game, after multiple attempts hitting the post and bar, Park Road finally broke through to secure another 1-0 victory against Broadheath Primary. The fourth match saw Park Road dominate Altrincham CofE, ultimately claiming a 1-0 win with a strong performance throughout the match.

The final game of the evening was the Group Final, pitting the top two teams against each other. Park Road Academy rose to the occasion, delivering a masterclass in football with a commanding 3-0 victory over Altrincham CofE. The team played exceptionally well, showcasing their skill and teamwork, and could have added even more goals to their tally.

Park Road Academy's Year 5 Sports Leaders Shine at Willows Primary School - 08.05.24

Park Road Academy's Year 5 Sports Leaders showcased their leadership skills and passion for sports at Willows Primary School. The event brought together Year 2 participants from various local schools for a fun-filled day of sports activities organised and led by our Year 5 students.

With careful planning and organisation, the Year 5 Sports Leaders curated engaging sports sessions tailored to the interests and abilities of the Year 2 participants. From mini-games to ball skills, the activities were designed to promote teamwork, coordination, and physical activity while ensuring maximum enjoyment for all involved.

The event served as an invaluable opportunity for the Year 5 children to put their leadership skills into practice, with each session contributing to their qualification in sports leadership. By guiding and facilitating the sports sessions, the Year 5 Sports Leaders demonstrated responsibility, creativity, and effective communication, setting a positive example for their peers and younger participants alike.

As the Year 5 leaders eagerly anticipate completing the remaining tasks and graduating in July, today's event marked a significant milestone in their journey towards becoming confident and capable sports leaders.
